The first impression of Archangelos Rhodes Greece is one of a typical Greek provincial town - a concrete wasteland with noisy cafes and nowhere to park.
However, Archangelos is regarded as one of the most faithful to the village traditions. Once you leave your car and make your way into the narrow side streets, you will understand why.

The church of the Archangel Michael dominates the center of the village, with its fine campanile dating from 1845. Thanks to the tratitional houses painted in vivid colors and their arches and walls decorated with ceramic plates from Lindos, the narrow streets arround the church retain a distinctive Greek atmosphere.
On the slopes of the nearby Mount Strongylos there still live some of the small, black, wild horses of the region, which the local people used in olden times for threshing the grain.
On higher ground about three kilometres from the village, on the road to the beach at Stegna, lies the cave of Koumellos, famous for its extraordinary stalactites.

There is a beautiful small beach at Stegna tucked between mountains and a gorgeous stretch of beach found at the end of a winding road passing sheep, almond and lemon groves .
Stegna has an unspoilt Greek Village atmosphere , where the pace of life is show and relaxed, although the evenings can liven up considerably with a popular taverna hosting beach parties, which you are welcome to join in.
There are many beach tavernas to chose from, a few local bars and at the end of the bay, just a stroll away, the tiny harbour.
